Meeting someone awesome online is no longer a myth, it happens and quite a lot! However, people also need to know that scammers abound in social media like Fakebook and dating sites and apps like Match.com. Although Match is not the only website with this kind of trouble (there is none exempt from fraudsters), it is definitely one of the most problematic due to the number of users it has.

In the third quarter of 2018, the Match Group’s number of paid members amounted to around 8.1 million users. Investigators in Russia state that most online romance scam cases originated in this country involve female scammers. Russian ladies are looked for frequently by foreign men because they tend to be very attractive women. How to avoid the scammers and fraudsters on Match.com?

The first step is to know that there are plenty of them in every single dating site. Even those who pay for memberships can be a fraudster. Scamming people has a great financial return, so paying for a membership is just part of their operational expenses. Be skeptical with anyone you meet through a dating site, even if they seem very real! There simply is no way for dating sites and social media sites to verify all their members, so users are left with the risk of finding someone real.

Asking the right questions is fundamental to be able to find out the truth. It will be hard to know if the person on the other side is real without a full name and a birth date. Some people get deeply involved in relationships in which they do not even know the basic information. Ask questions!
